As I mentioned, we are in Hartwell, Georgia, a place I absolutely love because it’s where I was born and raised! I went to school here, played here, graduated from here, left, and came back to start a family, teach, and now sell real estate. Like many, I couldn’t wait to leave when I turned 18, but I felt blessed to return and raise my family in this wonderful community.

Downtown Hartwell

Downtown Hartwell has undergone significant revitalization in recent years, with efforts to restore the beauty of its historic buildings and introduce fantastic dining, shopping, and service options. Especially during the warmer months, the vibrant downtown area is a hub of activity.

Hartwell boasts two live theatre production companies, a fine arts center, art galleries, and a live music venue every Saturday night. Whether you want to catch a play, listen to music, take an art class, or go shopping, Downtown Hartwell has something for everyone. Be sure to enjoy the Historic Walking Tour, which reveals the behind-the-scenes stories of many of the town’s historic landmarks.

Lake Hartwell and Outdoor Activities

Hartwell is home to Lake Hartwell’s Dam and offers 222 miles of the lake’s 962-mile shoreline. Whether you are a golfer, boater, fisherman, hunter, camper, hiker, or biker, Hart County provides numerous activities for you and your family to enjoy. The area features two golf courses, five campgrounds with 274 campsites, nine picnic recreation areas, multiple boat ramps, and two hunting preserves.

Located in Northeast Georgia on the Georgia-South Carolina border, Hartwell is about an hour and a half north of Atlanta and an hour south of Greenville, SC, off I-85. Lake Hartwell’s 960 miles of shoreline and 56,000 acres of water provide ample opportunities for boating, skiing, jet skiing, canoeing, and sailing.
