Exploring Toccoa

Today, we’re in Toccoa, Georgia. While I’m not a native, I have fond memories of visiting Toccoa as a young girl, thanks to some of my closest friends from here.

Now, as you can see, I’m in Downtown Toccoa. To give you some quick specs, Toccoa is located in the far Northeast Georgia, near the South Carolina border. It’s in Stephens County, about 50 miles from Athens, GA, 90 miles northeast of Atlanta, and 70 miles from Greenville.

If you’re downtown, I highly recommend exploring this area. It features vibrant storefronts and services and houses one of only three Southern Crescent Amtrak Stations in Georgia.

For breakfast, you must check out Linda’s Place at the Rebel or try some brunch items at R&R Prime. Don’t miss the architecture of the courthouse and the unique retail stores offering southern-themed gifts and delicious food. Notable restaurants include the X Factor Grill and Shirley’s Soul Food, the latter featured on Ashton Brown’s Feasting on Asphalt.

Downtown Toccoa also offers spa services, thrift stores, and places to create art. One highlight is the historic Ritz Theatre, where you can enjoy shows or live music on Doyle Street during summer. The downtown area is continuously being beautified with projects aimed at attracting young families and retirees.

Currahee Club

Our first stop is Currahee Club, a well-known gated golfing community. Homes here range from 1,200 to 5,000 square feet, priced between $380k and $880k. The community offers swimming, tennis, hiking trails, lake access, and 24-hour gated security, with stunning views of the Currahee Mountains.

Trestle Ridge Subdivision

Next, we visit Trestle Ridge Subdivision, where homes are priced between $300k and $400k. These homes sit on almost an acre to just over an acre of land, with sizes ranging from 2,000 to 5,000 square feet.

Summit Hills Subdivision

Summit Hills Subdivision also falls within the $300k to $400k range. Homes here are on just under an acre to about 2 acres of land, mostly built in the early 2000s.

In the current market, you can find homes ranging from under $200k to $300k, providing excellent starter homes on an acre or two. If you’re willing to spend at least a million dollars, you could even have a mini-farm or a luxury lake home.
